Entech Staffing Solutions is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Advocate – Shelter Social Service to join our Emergency Shelter Program team in Pontiac. This vital role ensures the safety, security, and well-being of residents while providing essential front desk support and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Responsibilities:

  • Resident Safety & Security:

    • Monitor shelter grounds and utilize video surveillance to ensure the safety of residents.

    • Build rapport with residents staying in motels and onsite units.

    • Respond to resident requests, assist with conflict resolution, and manage crisis situations.

    • Conduct weekly inspections of onsite units and document findings.

  • Front Desk & Administrative Support:

    • Provide professional front desk support, including answering phones, greeting residents, visitors, and volunteers, and screening individuals entering the building.

    • Perform light clerical work, including photocopying and data entry.

    • Accurately and timely complete paperwork and data entry, including HMIS, Link2Feed, daily call logs, stats sheets, and client records.

    • Assist with coordinating resident move-ins and exits.

  • Direct Resident Support:

    • Assist with delivering meals and essential items to shelter residents (ability to lift 20+ lbs required).

    • Provide light on-site services, such as collecting paperwork and answering general questions, while maintaining resident privacy.

    • Assist with cleaning and preparing client living quarters for new residents.

  • Team Collaboration & Professional Development:

    • Participate in staff and team meetings.

    • Attend trainings and workshops to enhance professional development.

    • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

  • Crisis Management

    • Answer crisis calls from individuals in the community seeking emergency shelter.

    • Uphold and enforce program policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (minimum); Associate’s Degree in mental health, social work, or hospitality preferred.

  • Professional or lived experience with homelessness.

  • Experience working with low-income individuals and families.

  • Knowledge of the social services landscape in Oakland County and surrounding areas (preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong professional and personal boundaries.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays.

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • A “can do”attitude and a team player.

Schedule:

  • Training: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (initial training period).

  • Regular Schedule: Tuesday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM; Saturday, 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Midnight shift also available.

Compensation:

  • $18.00 per hour.
