Pay Rate: $85000.00-90000.00
Shift:6am to 2:30pm some overtime
Description:
The Injection Molding Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, controlling and optimizing industrial processes within the Injection Molding program. The Process Engineer ensures process runs smoothly and efficiently while meeting quality standards and regulatory requirements. The main responsibility of Process Engineer includes designing new manufacturing processes, applying injection molding best practices and assisting new product launches.
Essential Duties
1. Conducting research to develop new and improved processes for Injection Molding.
2. Analyze and troubleshoot injection molding process problems.
3. Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with manufacturing standards.
4. Work with other engineers and manufacturing personnel to improve injection molding processes.
5. Develop and maintain process documentation.
6. Lead and mentor injection molding staff.
7. Responsible for promoting a safe work environment and preventing injuries through the use of, but not limited to, 6S, job rotation, and ergonomic work practices.
8. Conducting tests and monitor process performance throughout the production.
9. Design and planning of equipment layout.
10. Follow all IATF-16949 and ISO-14001 policies and procedures.
11. Train the mold setters ensuring appropriate training and evaluation. Oversee daily mold changes and start-ups.
12. Adhere to company policies and regulations.
13. Conduct process documentation of molds.
14. Interface with Quality Department on Corrective and Preventive actions for customer complaints and internal quality issues.
15. Understand and positively impact Key Performance Indicators balancing safety, quality, productivity, delivery, cost, scrap, labor and morale to achieve superior results in all areas.
16. Continuously analyze the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, communication, reporting, cost controls, and make recommendations to the appropriate departments to maximize efficiency.
17. Take part in customer initial samples part validation (PPAP).
18. Attend daily production meetings.
19. Ensure that first shot approval is obtained from Quality Inspectors.
20. Document all problems and process changes and provide action plans with supervisor.
21. Daily communication with various departments and all levels of management through email, telephone, face-to-face is necessary in order to optimize the efficiency of the operations.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, mechanical or advanced degree in polymer engineering.
2. 3+ years of experience in injection molding with presses ranging from 650-1400 tons.
3. At least 2 years of experience within the automotive industry.
4. Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Strong data analysis and problem solving skills.
7. Good interpersonal skills.
8. Knowledge of plastic engineering, product manufacturing principles and practices.
9. Strong computer skills with MS Office knowledge.
10. Basic understanding of OSHA standards.
Preferred Qualifications-Not Required
1. 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting.
2. Flexible to adapt to changes in scheduling, able to handle high-stress decision making scenarios.
